As we covered previously,if you have granite, marble, or other sort of natural stone, you want to hire a stone cleaning service in Manhattan Beach.

Reasons to Hire a Professional Stone Cleaning Service in Manhattan Beach

For general day to day cleaning, exterior stonework can be cleaned with regular soap and water. However, for stains and damage that’s been accumulating over the years, a garden hose and a bit of elbow grease are often not enough to restore your outdoor stonework to its natural beauty. Even a pressure washer is not guaranteed to lift some deep-seated stains.  That's where a stone care service comes in.
Because of it being outside, there are so many things that can stain or discolor stone.   Paint splatters, dust, and rain can make your stone look awful.  You will want a professional stone cleaning service to come in to not only clean your stone, but seal it as well.  Stone sealing is one plus that a do it yourself stone cleaning can't offer.  A professional stone cleaning service will most likely utilize a professional grade impregnating sealer.  Stone is naturally porous, so with sealer on it, the stone's pores will be filled with a resin that not only makes your stone water resistant, it makes it impervious to stains as well.  First off, the stone is cleaned thoroughly, and that's reason enough to get a Manhattan Beach stone cleaning service, they know how to clean your stone.  Flagstone or sandstone requires different care than travertine does.  Use the wrong thing and you can damage your stone.  Stone sealing also can benefit the stone on the inside of your home as well.

Stone Sealing and Hiring a Stone Cleaning Service

A professional stone cleaning service will have the knowledge of how best to care for these exquisite floor surfaces, helping you to keep your home looking like a palace.  Professional stone cleaners will ensure all stonework is thoroughly tested before the technicians begin any cleaning. This will ascertain the best cleaning solution for each different type of stonework, ensuring no damage occurs to the stonework during the cleaning process and that the best possible results can be achieved.
So, keep your stone safe.  Hire a professional stone cleaning company in Manhattan Beach.

What is Travertine?

What is travertine?  From Wikipedia: Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, and cream-colored varieties. It is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave. In the latter, it can form stalactites, stalagmites, and other speleothems. It is frequently used in Italy and elsewhere as a building material. Travertine is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters, and/or geothermally heated hot-springs." SOURCE ARTICLE
Travertine has a tendency to be a softer stone, so you don't want to grind it.  One key part of care for travertine is to get professional stone sealing done.  Stone sealing helps to impregnate the stone with a liquid proof seal that helps to repel stains and protect your floor against damage.  But what about Marble

Natural Stone Care and Marble

Marble is a harder stone, and you actually can grind it and do stone honing, and polish it with coarse grit buffers, however there is a bit of a warning where marble's concerned.  Don't spill anything acidic on it, even something fairly innocuous like coffee or orange juice, or it will literally eat away at your stone.  Like travertine, you can seal marble to protect it from both stains and damage, which considering how much fine marble can cost, is probably a good idea.
So remember, knowing what you can and can't do with your stone will save you a lot of trouble as well as a lot of money.  When in doubt call in a stone care service.
This concludes part one of our series.  For more information, please be sure to read part two and part three as well.
